From the moment one reads the title, Phoenix Rising, and understands the symbolism created, one knows that he or she is in good hands. There is not a heart string Phoenix Rising does not touch. The conclusion in particular can crack even the steeliest of readers. Each relationship is unique while staying true to the persona of the characters they affect. The characters themselves have strong personalities and darker pasts that make them come alive, especially Nyle. Unlike other friendship based stories, Phoenix Rising integrates bits of action and the emotional stress that comes with it. These pieces of the plot strengthen the rest of the literature. In addition, the setting pushes the conflict into motion, which helps the reader get attached to the story right away. In its heart, this work makes a reader think, not just about the characters but about the little secrets hidden in all of us.
Recommended for anyone who loves prominent characters and needs a break from romances.
